Discovering Beauvillé’s artisanal expertise
In the heart of Alsace, in Ribeauvillé, the Beauvillé Fabric Printing Manufacture immerses you in the unique world of artisanal textile printing. Since 1839, our workshops have preserved the art of hand-printing on flat screens, an ancestral technique that transforms each fabric into an exceptional piece.
Behind the scenes of fabric production
From the moment you enter the workshop, it is clear that every fabric tells a story. Artisans begin by preparing the textile: cleaning, bleaching, and stretching it onto frames to ensure a perfect support. Every detail matters, as precision is what distinguishes an ordinary fabric from a Beauvillé masterpiece.
The frames, emblematic tools of the manufacture, are meticulously aligned to overlay the different colors of each design. Artisans apply the inks color by color using a squeegee, in a repetitive and precise motion that appears almost choreographed. Each pass reveals the richness and depth of the motif, bringing the fabric to life before your eyes.

The artisan’s touch: Beauvillé’s signature
Watching an artisan at work is witnessing mastery in motion. The squeegee glides over the frame, the ink penetrates the fibers, and the motif forms with fluidity. Each movement is executed with patience and meticulous care.
The inks, highly durable vat dyes, are prepared in the manufacture’s color kitchen. Each shade is carefully checked to remain faithful to the design and to ensure long-lasting vibrancy, guaranteeing that the textile’s beauty endures over time.
The final step: fixing and enhancing
Once printed, the fabric undergoes a steaming process, where various baths fix the colors and enhance the motifs. This essential final step ensures the durability and brilliance of every piece.

A living craftsmanship
Each Beauvillé fabric is the result of a passionate collective effort, where tradition and innovation meet to produce unique textiles. Exploring these behind-the-scenes moments makes it clear why every piece is more than just fabric: it is a heritage, a promise of quality, and a testament to French elegance.
